How to install Movie Downloader on MacOS

So, you’ve decided you want to install Movie Downloader on MacOS machine and you want to make sure it’s done right. Well, you’ve come to the right place. I’m the developer of the software and I’m going to give you a step by step tutorial on how to install Movie Downloader on MacOS and other required software.

*****Note***** The OperaGX web browser needs to be installed in order for the program to run. You can install this first OR you can install it after you’ve installed the Movie Downloader. Your choice, but I’m going to show you how to install Movie Downloader and then install OperaGX.*****

Step 1: Go to https://moviedownloader.org and click on any download button. This will take you to the download page for the software. Click on the download button for the MacOS version. This will automatically download the .dmg file to your download folder. Open your download folder.

Step 2: Now that your download folder is opened, you should see the same file shown in the third image above but it may have a different version number and that’s ok because you will be getting the latest version, no matter what. Double-click that icon and it will open a new window. Drag the “Movie Downloader.app” file to your applications folder.

Step 3: Open your applications folder using Finder IF it didn’t automatically open when you installed Movie Downloader. Find the Movie Downloader app and double-click on it to run the program. At this point, you will receive a window that say it can’t be installed because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. No worries, I am the developer and I promise there is no malicious software bundled with it. It’s a clean program that runs a couple banner ads and that’s it. Go ahead and click ok and that will close this window. We will fix that in Step 4.

Step 4: Open “System Preferences” and click on “Security & Privacy”. Now, you’ll need to give your permission by clicking on the gold lock in the bottom left. Enter your password for to allow Movie Downloader to install. Click on “Open Anyway”. This will open another box. Click “Open”.

Step 5: You’ve successfully installed Movie Downloader but since you don’t have OperaGX installed, the program won’t run. Click on the “Install OperaGX for Mac” button. That will bring you to a virus scan to ensure you’re not getting malware or a virus. After the scan says the program is “safe”, click the green “Start Download” button. The text on the button will change to “Install and run OperaGX!”. Click again and this will take you to the OperaGX browser installation page.

Step 6: Click the download button to download OperaGX web browser to your download folder. This will download a zip file to your computer. Right click on the zip file and extract the file using using Archive Utility.app. This will extract the actual installer to the same folder.

Step 7: Double click the OperaGX installer. This will bring up a window and you need to click “Open”. This will start running the installer. Now, this is optional, but I suggest you do it. Click “Options” and then check “Make Opera GX the default browser” AND check “Import bookmarks and data from the default browser”. This will import your bookmarks and other data from your current browser so you don’t have to start all over. Click “Accept and Install”. You will need to give Opera GX permission to access your bookmarks and other data.
